When an artist/teacher, a psychotherapist, and a cat come together—along with their cherished objects that need to be incorporated into the design—the resulting concept is an eclectic blend of styles. The proposed concept, called “Colorful Eclectic Garden,” combines styles, colors, and warm natural elements to create an atmosphere that inspires to both rest and relaxation, as well as work.

In the bedroom, the existing elements—shades, desks, and flooring—were paired with pieces from different styles to balance the “mix,” while also zoning the space for separate functions (sleeping, storage, work, and relaxation). Richly interwoven colors were chosen to add a playful vibe while maintaining a focus on relaxation and tranquility when the space is used for work.

In the living room, a chromatic zoning approach was adopted. To visually distinguish the different areas of the design, color variations were used to define the areas, creating a sense of separation without imposing physical barriers.

A large custom-built bookcase was proposed to house all the books and musical instruments of the apartment’s residents. It was designed in the same color as the accent wall to blend in the apartment`s new found atmosphere. Except for the modular sofa, the proposed furnishings feature neutral colors and warm materials to balance the vibrant wall finishes.
