SIRENELOR Apartment

Bucharest, Romania, 2016

Area: 57 sqm, Client: Private, Finalized: October 2016

Designing an apartment in mid-century modern style can be very chic and trendy, as this style is heating up in projects everywhere. We gathered various elements of mid-century style to give Sirenelor Apartment a 1980s atmosphere mixed with bright color surfaces. Our aim was a style characterized by simplicity  with integrated  natural elements together with a vivid color pallette.

The large window, present in the dining area of the living room, brings in light and urban nature, which creats a feeling of spaciousness and an interesting, changing background which can be noticed from the entrance.

The tropical turquoise sofa is an accent and a contrast to the white Ikea hacked TV racks and the carpet gives the look of a graphic artwork to the entire living room.

The entire apartment is practical, innovative and warm, mid-century design being incorporated subtly with iconic pieces like a reinterpreted tulip-table or the Eames inspired vintage chairs, using a nontraditional palette of soft whites, greys and turquoise.

The simple decorated gray kitchen furniture brings a warmth and style well known in the mid-century designs. The kitchen mixes vintage with contemporary, dark with light and hard with soft by adding the custom made ceilling lamp with vintage light bulbs, and by mixing materials such as wood and metal.

The bedroom is the only room in the house with a different color wall meant to be a background that highlights the simple design of the furniture in the room.
